L1 Walnut Smooth Maxima
One of the interesting things about true handmade pipes
is that you see lots of pipes which are "almost" a copy of
another, but there are clear differences because of the hand making
process. In fact, if you look at the pipes in this Gallery 4,
all of which are part of the same shipment, it becomes
apparent that Giancarlo was working with an idea about large
bent pipes. This is a good way of visually explaining how a
true hand made pipe is made, because one can not remove
the interest of the pipe maker at the time the pipe was
made. This piece is an elegant "almost bent apple".
The one thing which is the same with all these pipes,
and all Ser Jacopo pipes, is that a pipe cleaner can pass to the
bottom of the bowl without taking the pipe apart.
